Renegade Styx T-Shirt .besteestores Carol began her mess of a journey back in 1967, where she was an amnesiac . Basically, she would black out and go through a sudden personality shift into “Miss Marvel,” and would go around , before changing back to her Carol  persona none the wiser. It was an odd gimmick that, even in an era where the Fantastic Four were fighting apes on the moon (I’m not exaggerating, this happened, look up the “Red Ghost”), strained the suspension of disbelief for audiences. Nobody was particularly receptive to her. Eventually they just sort of dropped the whole “amnesiac” part of her character, but that just made it so that there was really nothing special about her at all. She was a flying brick character with none of the lore and mythology of Thor, none of the legacy of Superman, and none of the charm.

Renegade Styx T-Shirt .besteestores Carol Danvers would eventually join the Avengers but audiences were still unreceptive to her because she had all the personality of a piece of toast. So Marvel tried to basically give her a “happy ending” in Avengers 200 so that she could basically go away and never really come back. A cosmic entity named Marcus Immortus impregnated Carol Danvers with himself so that he could be born into the physical realm, then rapidly aged into an adult and took Carol as his wife. It was weird and creepy and Shooter and Michelinie genuinely didn’t seem to realize that the whole situation was so screwed up.
