I personally would not feel comfortable turning a profit off of someone in that situation. If he was selling his father’s things, it sounds like he was the executor or he inherited a bunch of items during the estate process. Death hurts, but it’s part of the job (I’ve been an executor twice). Estate appraisers will walk the entire home and value everything. Not to be harsh, but OP, you were NTA. The guy didn’t do his due diligence, and he’s probably just kicking himself because that’s a big loss of inheritance.
