Streets are overrated shirt .besteestores I love the Wu-Tang Clan and A Tribe Called Quest. They’re both very different groups though; Wu-Tang polarises in a more hardcore, gangsta-based rap (which does often have political and religious influences), while ATCQ is much more laid back, jazz rap, in which entire albums revolve around the ideas of black nationalism, political issues, current affairs and also social issues such as racial inequality, rape and drugs. They’re both great groups, and if I took a personal pick, it would have to be Wu-Tang, but only by a very small margin. My preference to pick the Wu-Tang is because I just listened to so much of their content, and all the members had a different identity. The solo artists created many classics on their own. They had collaborated with most artists that were massive during their earlier years: Biggie, Snoop Dogg, Nas, Mobb Deep.

Streets are overrated shirt .besteestores Their influence, which I will expand a little on later, also had a huge span. That being said, Q-Tip is quite possibly my favourite rapper of all time, and definitely one of my favourite producers of all time. RZA is quite possibly my favourite producer of all time. But a large reason in my decision, an almost cinematic gangsta portryal. This switch up in hardcore hip hop, developing a mafioso rap genre, changed and matured the scene of hardcore hip hop, where we went from the originating Criminal Minded by Boogie Down Productions, to Road to the Riches by Kool G Rap and DJ Polo, to Illmatic by Nas; this changed the scope for the forthcoming albums of these genres, such as It Was Written by Nas, Reasonable Doubt by Jay Z and 50 Cent’s Get Rich or Die Trying.
